Graham football standout Travon Neal was awarded a $500 scholarship as part of the AAI Joel Davis Insurance Senior Scholar-Athlete Program. Neal, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound linebacker, was honored for his work with the Future Business Leaders of America, the Graham High School’s Student Council and the GForce mentoring program.

“Travon is a true leader on and off the field”, says Graham Coach Mike McAuley. He is such a special, gifted student and one that I was lucky to have.

Travon will continue his studies at UNC-Charlotte and aspires to become a physical therapist because he loves the medical field and to help people. He attributes all that he is, and all his success to his mother, Sharon Wyatt. In his spare time, he mentors his younger sister and volunteers in the community.

The scholarship was started by Joel Davis Insurance in Graham, and is enthusiastically supported by AAI Mark Vitali in Chapel Hill, NC. “We wanted to show that there are some exceptional students both on and off the field that can serve as true role models for our community. In a time when we see so much negativity in the news, it’s good to hear something positive and know that, in some little way, we can be a part of helping this young man’s bright future. We also hope that other businesses in the community will be a part of this great program and help to make it grow in the future.”

AAI Joel Davis Insurance is a sponsor of the WPCM High School Football ‘Game of the Week” heard Friday nights in the fall on 920-AM WPCM.
